What Customers Say About Optical Splitter:

I can connect one device (home theater,) and the sound has noise in it. I bought this device to simultaneously output sound from my PS3 to both my home theater system and a set of Tritton AX Pro headphones. However the splitter will not work. If I connect the second device (headphones) I get nothing. I have purchased a switch instead, which is what I should have done to begin with.

There were several problems. Even with one cable going in and one coming out, no sound would come over my speakers unless I moved the cable to the other jack. I bought this product so I could use my surround sound receiver that has only one digital input with two different components. puts out a signal when the power is on, even if I don't want the sound coming from it (eg. The pops were extremely loud regardless of the volume setting. First, a DirecTV box constantly puts out a digital audio output signal even when it's off. It would never work together because they are both putting out signals at the same time. The second problem was that one of the jacks on the side with 2 jacks wouldn't work at all.

I wanted to use digital audio because of the quality of sound. I bought it along with 2 cables (I already had one) and it took me forever to figure out why it wouldn't work. Tried it with other cables and had the same results. The last thing was the horrible sound quality. My T.V. I want my audio to come from my DVD player only, which is my surround sound receiver). With this product in the loop, the audio would pop and crackle randomly. In the end, I bought a digital output selector, which was less than $20, and is what I should have purchased to begin with, not only because I needed it because of my setup requirements (which I learned after the fact), but also because the device is junk.

This is probably an awesome product for those of you that are only interested in splitting the audio signal from 1 device into 2 input devices (amps, etc).Unfortunately for me, I was on the other end of the spectrum, so it served me absolutely no purpose, but providing a lesson on bidirectional signals.

The splitter (or in this case, combiner) works great.I was curious to see what happens if you run both digital inputs at once (ie will you get sound corruption and digital audio artifacts or some kind of mixing of the signals) so I tried it out. I actually bought this product based on another review here. Interestingly enough, neither happened. Like that other reviewer, I needed it to do the reverse of what it's advertised for. I wanted to combine two separate source inputs into a single receiver.I have a media PC and a DVD player with the same optical outs and I only have one Dolby Digital receiver with one optical input. The splitter will only produce one signal at a time and it's whichever signal started first. The other signal is ignored.Anyway, if you need an optical signal splitter/combiner, this one fits the bill very nicely.

It works with my cable receiver/ps3 hooked up to my bose receiver via optical input, however when the same was tried for my mac book which outputs digital output - the receiver doesn't seem to be recognize it as input.I was able to hook my MB directly to the receiver through optical cable and it works ,sounds like splitter does not work for this situation.
